The Board will support activities and events that contribute to creating liveable areas and a sense of belonging, including convenient and local meeting places. These should link to projects that encourage positive relationships, particularly between older people and young people, for instance through joint community activities.

This will include encouraging community interest and ownership in particular neighbourhoods / parks and public spaces, drawing on the Sidings Park Loughborough and Parish Plans and Village Appraisal experience.

It will also include enabling communities to improve existing disused open spaces, creating new green areas and environmental improvements in order to improve the wellbeing, health and confidence in an area.

There will be close links to multi-agency initiatives to tackle environmental crimes such as fly tipping, fly posters, graffiti, dog fouling etc. including under the LAA Cleaner/Greener theme and the LAA outcomes which seek to ensure the “vitality and viability of centres”.
