Charnwood Community Safety Partnership
Based upon the Charnwood Strategic Assessment 2009 and through data analysis, interpretation and priorities identified at partnership workshops and meetings, the Partnership has identified following improvement priorities:
- Improving Community Confidence
- Reducing Acquisitive Crime
- Reducing Violent and Hate Crime
Reducing Anti Social Behaviour
The Partnership was committed to building on the progress made against these priorities during 2009/10 and to make further improvements against all four issues.
One of the roles of the Partnership is to improve community confidence in the ways in which agencies work together to reduce crime and disorder and improve customer satisfaction. The Partnership recognises that improving community confidence will be heavily influenced by the degree of success across the other three improvement priorities. For this reason “Improving Community Confidence” is an overarching priority of the Partnership so that all activity that it supports should not only impact on a particular crime or disorder issue but should have a positive influence on public perceptions. Communities expect public agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour in their localities in a responsive and effective manner. Communicating, engaging and involving local people in those issues of most importance to them is a vital component to providing public reassurance and reducing the fear of crime and a quarter (26%) of Charnwood respondents are to some degree dissatisfied with the current level of crime in their area. Within that the fear of crime is something that can affect people from all walks of life and at any time and can have a serious impact of their quality of life.
The Partnership recognises there will be cross cutting themes within these priorities such as community engagement, equality and diversity, reassurance of vulnerable people and prolific and priority offenders
